What is a domain name?​

What happens if the domain I want is already taken?​

If the domain name you want is already registered by someone else, you cannot register the exact same one. Our search tool will show you it's unavailable and provide you with smart alternatives, such as:

  • Slight variations of the name (e.g., adding a word like getyourname.com).

Can I transfer my existing domain to CloudMySite?​

What is domain privacy protection, and do I need it?​

When you register a domain, your personal contact information (name, address, email) is required to be listed in a public database called Whois. Domain privacy protection is a service that replaces your personal information with generic contact information from a proxy service. How long does domain registration last?​

You can register a domain for a period of one to ten years. You are essentially leasing the name for that period. Before it expires, you will need to renew it to keep it active.

What are domain extensions, and which one should I choose?​

Can I get an email address with my domain?​

How long does it take for my new domain to be active?​

After you complete your registration, your domain is secured instantly. However, it can take anywhere from a few minutes to 48 hours for the new domain to become visible to everyone across the globe. This period, called DNS propagation, is standard across the entire internet.
